Feb 23: Scam Awareness (for seniors aged 65+)

Seniors in the community are invited to register for this free talk about online safety with Jim Freer, Information Technology Lead.

Open to all levels of experience.

This talk will cover:

  • Common types of online scams.
  • Warning signs and red flags.
  • Practical tips to protect your personal information while using your computer or smart phone.
  • What to do if you think you may have been scammed.

This friendly community group provides support & info for people affected by breast cancer. Space provided by JBCP.

Chronic Conditions Workshop (Fall 2025)

Knowledge + Skills + Confidence! In this *free* 6-session workshop for adults with one or multiple chronic conditions, you will learn:

Anyone with macular degeneration or vision problems is welcome to attend this on-going group.

Income Tax Clinic (closed until Spring)

Our annual Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP) clinic for the 2024 tax year is now closed.

ABOUT THE CLINIC AT JBCP

This clinic is limited to those with a lower income and who have a simple tax return. Our volunteers work in partnership with Canada Revenue Agency to provide this service.

ELIGIBILITY

Individuals, families or couples with a simple tax return may be eligible for this free clinic when it opens again next spring:

  • $35,000 per individual.
  • $45,000 per couple.
  • $47,000 per 3-person family + $2,500 per additional child.
  • Simple returns only with all necessary paperwork included.
  • No capital gains; no self-employment income; no interest income above $1,000; no bankruptcy; no deceased person filing.
PLEASE NOTE
  • This is a drop-off & pick-up clinic only.
  • No tax assistance is available onsite.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
  • This clinic runs annually, from March to April. Updates will be posted when it opens up again.
